Winchester Model 1886 Rifle – SN: 44426 (Antique)

Offered here is a Winchester Model 1886 rifle chambered in .38-56 Winchester with a 25-inch barrel. Serial number “44426” is marked on the lower tang, along with “Model 1886” on the top tang and “38-56 W.C.F.” on the top of the barrel. This serial number indicates production in 1890, according to Winchester records. The barrel also bears the mark “MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CONN U.S.A.”. This historical rifle retains 40% of its original blue finish in protected areas, with the rest transitioning to a smooth gray. The bore is very good, showing some corrosion but maintaining good rifling. Its action is in very good working condition. The rifle features a walnut stock and matching forend, which are quite nice; perhaps lightly refinished.
