Winchester 1873 .38 Caliber Rifle – SN: 255309B (Antique)

Offered here is a Winchester Model 1873 rifle chambered in 38-40 Winchester, with a 24-inch octagonal barrel and a full-length cartridge tube. Serial number “255309B” is marked on the lower tang, and the top of the barrel is marked “38 WCF”. The “Winchester’s Repeating Arms” address mark is also present on the barrel. Winchester records confirm production in the year 1888. Approximately 20% of the original bright blue finish remains, now turning brown with a nice patina; the gun shows honest wear. The bore is in good condition, albeit dull with a bit of corrosion, but maintains good rifling. The action is in very good working condition, including correct movement of the dust cover. The two piece smooth walnut stock is original, in good condition.
